31 days of Photos

I was successful in taking a picture everyday this month! I know last month I said that I would probably not continue taking pictures everyday this month, but I just couldn't stop myself. Every day's shot is not amazing but each day is a snapshot of our life so they are all precious to me and I hope that you might also enjoy them.

Bibles and Photos

A couple of weeks ago Jonah and I were discussing things we collect. Neither of us really love nick knacks or lots of little things around so it may seem like we don't really collect much, but we came to the conclusion that Jonah collects Bibles and I collect photographs. So here is a photo of our latest bible for you! We went to a christian bookstore a couple of weeks ago, which was a treat because there is not one close to us, and picked up this new story bible for the boys. I am not an expert on Children's bibles, I have only recently even started to notice them, but this one is wonderful. It has bright and beautiful illustrations as you can see and the stories are fun and easy to understand. Here is the best part every story points to Jesus, you can see themes of sacrifice and God saving His people evident in each one. I love reading the stories to them as much as they love listening. If you have little kids I highly recommend this bible.

A lotta lotta TV

Jonah was working late last night so I let the boys watch a show while I was folding the laundry and Will excitedly said to me, "Grandma lets me watch a lotta, lotta shows" "Oh really?" I said, " Does mommy let you watch a lot of shows?" "No," he said,"you just let me watch two and then say let's be done." "How many does Grandma let you watch?" I asked "She lets me watch this many" he says holding up four fingers quite proudly. I had to laugh.
Now before you get the idea that he just sits and watches T.V. all day at grandmas let me tell you that is not the case at all. They do all kinds of fun things at grandma's and sometimes watching a show or two while sitting on or beside grandpa is one of those fun things. I came across a quote that illustrates grandmas quite well I think. It said something like this:
Grandmas are old enough to know the rules, but privileged enough to be able to break them. Isn't that the truth! No wonder we all would rather be at grandma's house and thank God for them!

Off to the Supermonster

Today while Will was playing (packing up his bag and getting ready to "go")we had a conversation that went something like this.
Me: Will where are you going?
Will: Umm to the Supermonster
Me: Do you mean the Supermarket?
Will: No the Super-mon-ster (they like to enunciate just in case I have become hard of hearing)
Me: Oh what do you do at the Supermonster?
Will: Play with Cookie Monster and Elmo
Naturally I should have known this!

Kiss it Mommy

Jake has this funny habit of asking me to "kiss it" every time he gets hurt. A bump to the head, a scrape and today his hands. His hands you may be wondering then why is he pointing to his mouth in the picture. Well that is a funny little story. Yesterday I noticed that Jake kept biting on his hands but when I asked him if his teeth hurt he would say no. Then this morning while they were playing he kept coming over to me with a most pathetic look on his face asking me to kiss his hands. "What did you do to your hand?" I asked. "My Bite it!" he would say. So naturally my response was "Well don't bite your hand then!" When it happened again and again my lightening fast mind figured out he must be getting his two year molars! So I asked him to let me look at his teeth and sure enough in the back of his mouth his gums are swollen with little white bumps in the center. So I promptly gave him teething tablets and some ibuprofen. Boy he has been a different guy all afternoon (I asked him if I could take a picture of where his teeth hurt and he was nice enough to pose for me) So the lesson that I learned from this is that when he bites on his hand look in his mouth don't just believe his word when he says his teeth don't hurt, not that he would lie but he is only 2 for goodness sake!

Baby it's cold outside

It is freezing here today actually below freezing, today's high was -5. I know for people who have lived here a while that is not really a big deal, but for this Colorado Native it is COLD. Story time resumed at the Library today, after a break for the Holidays, so we did venture out in spite of the chilling temperatures but we were really glad to be back inside where it is warm! We are having soup for dinner to get rid of any lingering chill ;).
I have been continuing on with taking a picture a day (you can see them on my Flickr page) and I asked Will if he would hold this sign while I took a picture. He had no idea what the sign meant but I told him he could wear his vest and he excitedly asked if he could also get his hat and scarf (of course he can!)

Bedposts and Sunglasses

Jonah has been working on our new bed for a while (see More changes) and last he installed the new beautiful headboard. He has designed it himself and I think it looks great. I always know with things like he will make an amazing piece of furniture and the bed is turning out to be not different. Now he is working in drawers to go underneath- yea more storage!

Why is it that Peanut always feels the need to jump on the bed in when I am taking pictures of it? But he sure looks cute doesn't he?

Last night we went to Target. Target is about 30 min away and Wal-mart is 10 so needless to say we don't to Target as often as we go to Wal-Mart. So sometimes we go just for fun and a change of atmosphere. They usually have a bunch of things at the front of the store for $1 and these sunglasses were among them last night, so I picked up a pair for each of the boys. They were a favorite toy today even though is was cloudy outside and thus darkish in the house they didn't care. I love how they are wearing them upside down. (Will is eating licorice and needs a haircut I think)

In the market for a new Printer

I would really like to purchase a new printer this year I have TONS, of digital pages done as many of you may know, and the boys love to look at them on the computer but it would be nice to have them in books so people can look at them without huddling around my computer screen ;) I have narrowed it down to either an Epson or a canon. It seems that the Epson prints last longer and are a bit more professional looking but are more expensive to print. So do I go for quality or economy. I think both would probably be acceptable for my purposes but I have to say I would really love the Epson! Here is a blog (Mommy Coddle) with an Epson printer give away. I found her blog through Designer Digitals (so I am sure it is all on the up and up :) It also looks like she will be sharing more fun things in the near future so why not check Mommy Coddle here . I love reading blogs so I am happy to add another fun one to the list!

Christmas is Over?

This is the question I keep getting from Will. He doesn't seem to grasp the concept that Christmas only comes once a year. Monday he told about something he wanted for Christmas, I can't remember now what it was, and I told him Christmas was over for this year and we would have to wait until next year for Christmas again. His response- Mommy this was the best Christmas EVER! Today I finally drug out all of the boxes and got the Christmas ornaments, tree, stockings and lights put away. It always seems a bit sad to put all of the Christmas things away but it is amazing how uncluttered the house seems with out it! I am all about less clutter wherever I can manage it. So we say good bye to our Christmas Trim for this year and hello to a (well) less cluttered house.

End of Celebrating

Whew!! Yesterday was the end of our nearly two months of celebrating that started in November with my birthday. Then we had Will's Birthday, followed by Thanksgiving, then Christmas, Kay's Birthday/ New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Jake's Birthday and Finally Jonah's Birthday! We really have it packed in there! It is fun to celebrate but I am ready to be back to normal life for a while. No presents to buy, no big dinners to plan (or eat for that matter!), nothing to decorate for and all of the other things that go along with the holidays and celebrating. Jonah and I are going out for his birthday on Saturday but that should be just relaxing and fun since in will be just the two of us, thank you Grandma! So we will just be having "normal" days for a while but with two toddlers our days are never boring!

December Picture of the Day

I set out to take a photo everyday in December and I only missed four days! It was fun to capture pieces of our everyday life in the way. I would love to do a photo a day everyday but I just don't think I would be able to do it at this point in my life so I will try it again in May, and I am also planning to do a 52 weeks of blessings project. I will be taking a photo of something I am grateful for or feel blessed to have in my life every week. I have also gotten some friends and family members to join in with me so it should be wonderful to see the way in which we are all blessed!
