Before and After

Last week Jonah decided to shave his goatee off. I don't really know why, but it was fun to see the boys' reaction as they have never seen their dad without a goatee (Will was fascinated, Jake cried) It took some getting used to as I have only seen him this was a few time myself, but now I kind of like it. Will says he likes him better without whiskers because it doesn't tickle when he kisses him! With or without whiskers I love this guy and am happy to have him in my life!

Can you believe August is over already? This summer seemed to fly by. . . we are looking forward to fall and all that it holds for us ;)

From seed to Pumpkins . . . well almost

We planted pumpkins a few months ago and we have watched them sprout, grow pretty yellow flowers, and now finally we have a few little pumpkins. Two of them are about the size of an apple, well a smallish apple. I have no idea if they will get big enough for us to carve but it has been really fun to watch them grow and I think we have gotten the bug for growing. We plan to grow a bigger garden next year.

Just in case you wanted to know!

We have been enjoying a lot of fresh veggies lately, not because we have a wonderful garden, but because we of the kindness of others. Will keeps trying to tell people about our garden and I try to shush him because all we have are some carrots and pumpkins that may or may not ripen before the frost! We received some zucchini, I am not a well versed cook and didn't really know what to do with it so I made zucchini bread, I know I have sent the recipe to many of you, but for those of you who haven't seen the recipe yet you can find it here. It is so delicious that I had to make this sweet and delicious bread again this week. I can't resist it so I had it for breakfast, the boys, who seem a bit sick of it had Life Cereal.

For lunch we had sandwiches, PB&J for Jake and ham and cheese for the rest of us and on the side we had fresh, red grape tomatoes. Jonah came home with a big bag of them from K and I wondered What will we do with all of those? We still had some she had given us earlier in the week but they are so good the boys just devour them, I have eaten quite a few myself. They are almost all gone!

Today is rather cool so what could be more perfect for a fall feeling day (even though it is still August?) Chile! So we rounded our day out with four bowls of Chile mmmm so delicious as Jonah's Chile always is!

So Big . . .

Just this week Jake has started to hold up two fingers to show that he is two. Before he would hold up one finger on each hand to show two. It is amazing how they grow so quickly and how rapid their development is right now. He can even do two hands of two!

As I am sure you can tell, photos are precious to me. I love taking them, looking at them, writing about them, but most of all preserving them for the future. I love looking at my pictures and the ones taken by the people I love. So when was the last time you got out you camera and shot the world around you? It it was today awesome, if it has been too long, go grab you camera and take some photos!!

Can you ever really say no to Dessert

It is hot and muggy today. Lots of rain in the morning combined with heat in the afternoon and more storms rolling in made for a uncomfortable day. So when K called us to invite us over for dessert, how could we say no. There was chocolate cake, ice cream and an air condition house (our air conditioner is still not functional), sounds good to me! They had out-of- town guest over and they were the best kind of guests -the kind that bring delicious dessert LOL! (Oh how I want out-of-town guests to visit. . . I am missing our CO friends today. . . any I digress. . .) The boys were thrilled to go to grandma's with or without cake! They don't pay attention to much else when there is yummy dessert involved! They each had two helpings, isn't that they best part of going to Grandma's , getting to do things you wouldn't get to do at home? They got do do puzzles and read books. Grandma even gave them each two flowers to bring home! They love bringing flowers home from Grandma's I grabbed this shot of the sky before we left. . . it looks like more storms are on the way, but they sky was really cool!

I'm not going to look at you

We were outside playing yesterday and I suggested to Will that we go in the back to take photos of him in the beautiful evening light play in the sand box. I grabbed my camera on the way and I started shooting him playing in the sand. I asked him to look up at me and he immediately hid his face saying he was not going to look at me (as I have said before he may be over photographed) I am always trying to find ways to make him think that taking photos is fun and not to dread my pulling out the camera, although sometime I know they do. So I started asking him where the moon way,thinking he might look at the sky and I could at least see his face. It worked briefly but not well because the moon wasn't out yet! So I started to make him laugh by saying there was a monkey on my head. He told me that there wasn't a monkey on my head and that he wasn't going to look! But he couldn't help himself and had to take a peek- Gotcha! It was a fun game that we played for a while, it is nice that he is getting to the age that we can joke around and laugh with him!
