Painting. . .

Most of the walls in our house are painted white, in a flat finish, not well I might add! So painting is high on our list of would like to have done's this summer. This weekend my lovely husband decided to knock this off of his list. I suggested other things to do, but this is how he decided to spend his weekend. Gotta love him! He is a wonderful painter I have mostly decided not to even paint at all since I make more of a mess than anything else. He started this wall just before I left for the store and when I came back he was done with the first coat- he is a super fast painter.

This wall that he is working on is the dining room and living room wall and is vaulted so we painted it with as an accent wall (in "paper bag"), the other walls will be painted in a light tan. The boys are always to interested in what ever he is working on.

They had to get in on the action too.

Popsicles and the Sprinkler

Today was rather warm so we cooled off with Popsicles and the sprinkler. . .

I am sure you will notice that there are no pictures of Jake running through the sprinkler. That is because it was too "kary" (scary) for him. So he would only go in with me holding him and Will is not old enough to take photos. . . yet! So today it is running through the sprinkler starring Will :)

Trip to the Library

We haven't been to the library in weeks so today we went and picked up a few books (more like 25). So the day was spent like this :

I forgot how peaceful the day is when we come home with a big pile of books :). We ended they day with a movie and popcorn. I love days like this. Hope your day was full of peace and joy too!

Lost and found at the park

Today we went to the park we had never been to, in a small town we had never even driven through. A friend invited us to join her there and since it is my mission to visit all of the parks within a 30min radius of our house I gladly accepted. I have found that most of the parks here are very nice and this one was no different. Our trouble occurred when the park became overrun with running, laughing, and playing children. There were several others mom's and kids that my friend had invited and a group of daycare kids. I am not sure how many kids there were but there were a lot and the park is not huge. I did a good job of keeping an eye on my two little crumb crunchers for a while but at some point I lost sight of Jake, figuring he was with Will as he usually is, I went over to the area that I knew Will was in. I asked him were Jake was he didn't know. I start looking around, I don't see him, I called his name. . . nothing. I look some more still don't see him probably only a few seconds had passed but it seemed like hours and full panic starts to set in. Where could he have gone? Would he wonder off? How far could a two year old actually get? Would someone take him in a town of 200? What if I couldn't find him? Like I said, full blown panic. I am still looking calling him ever louder. Will, probably sensing my panic, is also looking and finally points him out to me. I ask him where he had been innocently he says in the tube thing. I said didn't you hear me calling you? Yes he says! I try to calm down while telling him if he hears me calling for him to please come or at least say where he is. I know he is wondering what the big deal is he really hadn't left the are where he was playing and hadn't wondered off but to his mommy the momentary thought of losing that little guy was terrifying. He had a big melt down tonight just before bed, not because of the incident at the park but just because he is two and he was tired. It didn't even faze me. The usual irritation that occurs when fits are thrown was completely overshadowed by the fact that he was sitting right in front of me safe and sound. I think I will be dressing them in bright orange next time we go to the park!

Weekend Recap

On Friday I took the boys to the park to walk (exercise for me as they were in the stroller), take photos, and of course do a little playing. So we walked on the path that goes through a park we like to frequent, and then stopped a few times to take some pictures. I got a few picture of the boys walking/ running on the bridge.

I love photos of people walking and holding hands, the bridge is an added bonus! So if I am around you and I am taking your picture it is likely I will try to get a photo of you walking, especially if I can find someone for you to hold hands with ;)

Along the path there is this beautiful field of flowers~ love the purple and white together,

and quite a few benches to rest if you need to or take a couple pictures in the lovely shade. Love this one of them hugging!

Then on Saturday the boys got to be in The "Soup days Parade". So they rode in Grandpa's Hot rod, a 1929 Ford Truck. It is quite impressive as anyone who has seen it will tell you.
The boys were treated to sandwiches, lemonade and of course a bit of the candy they were throwing. We stayed for the parade, just so I could photograph see them and then we ran errands. They went on to have tons of fun eating Pea Soup (What else would you do at Pea Soup days?) and visiting the carnival. We went to Ikea, just to return some items and then to Lowe's really exciting I know! We went to pick the boys up from Grandma's and as usual Grandma invited us to stay for dinner. I am so lucky to have a MIL who watches the boys all day and then cooks for us too.
We finished the weekend by preparing and then planting a few things in our tiny plot of soil
garden. We Jonah had to dig the grass up, till the ground, and then we added in lovely dark soil from our "swamp". So there was a lot of watching daddy

Then we got on with the planting. We planted pumpkins, which started the whole garden idea. I saw some pumpkin plants and thought why not try and grow our own instead of buying them in the fall, then I thought if we can do plants why not seeds. So let's do pumpkins turned into let's also do watermelon, because that's just like pumpkins, and hey we really like carrots and if we are doing carrots why not a little corn. Bare in mind we have never planted anything on our own and we really know nothing about having a garden, but it seems to fall under the "how hard can it be"category and the "why not give it a try" category. Besides we have bunnies so if the whole garden idea is a terrible flop we can always blame the bunnies :)

We ran out of time but will also plant sunflowers tomorrow~ just because they are pretty!
